Geostationary Transfer Orbit
Geostationary Transfer Orbit: An orbit at modest inclination with perigee at low Earth orbit and apogee at geostationary orbit. The usual intermediate step en route to Geostationary orbit. Ariane launches directly into GTO, some other launchers launch into low Earth orbit and then boost into GTO.

- Parking orbit and geostationary orbit are circular and transfer orbit is elliptical. The DMB satellite, which is GEO satellite, has been launched into a parking orbit around earth with the radius of 6,674km. It is assumed that changing the velocity of the satellite can be realized by adding an impulsive delta-V parallel to the velocity vector.
